writing & design

Music, passion, people and hard work - that is what's woven into the fabric of my being. My name is Lindsey Miller and I am a recent graduate from the University of Denver, with a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications and writing practices. My time spent at the University is to thank for allowing myself to combine my passion for writing, the media, and public relations - and do so creatively. Writing has always seemed to be my best way of thinking and communicating my complex ideas – here, you will find pieces of my writing that strive to do so. Here’s a look into what my writing minor has entailed.

About The Portfolio

Out of the entire writing practices curriculum, each course had their own significance in their own empowering and transitive way. Below you will find some of my favorite pieces I have produced throughout my time at the University, and an outline of these courses.

This is a piece that originated as a literature review for the WRIT 1133 course - and then was extensively revised with the challenge to suit an alternate audience and genre.

11 Things You Didn't Know About Music Majors

Derived from COMM 2400, this piece was produced with the intention to analyze the works of ethos, pathos and logos in the rhetorical speech, Phaedrus and in the film, Her. In the comment section located on the right side of the document, you will find some insight on my thought process whilst producing this piece.

Ethos, Pathos and Logos in Rhetoric and Film.

This reflection piece was written for the WRIT 2000 Theories of Writing Course. Reflections are my preferred genre - here you will find my favorite piece that I wrote in the writing minor.

Does Classic Literature End Readership in the School Curriculum?

From my strategic communications major, this is a piece that was created for a client in the non-profit sector that I worked closely with throughout the span of one quarter. Throughout this experience, I helped the client address several communication needs, including this social media plan.

With the challenge to produce an argumentative piece, I chose to argue against the University of Denver transfer system in this rebuttal piece for the WRIT 1122 course.

This piece is derived from my advanced seminar course, where I evaluated and analyzed book to movie adaptations and their significance.

From Literature to Film

What began as a two-worded prompt became my favorite fiction piece: The Language of Fire.
